A thread monitor would be someone w/ official powers to ban, delete, etc.; what we have is people w/ differing tastes & beliefs. The “di” in dialogue refers to there being at least two people & it can be measured or shrill. Huffs, tantrums, ad hominem exchanges & the like are often responses to counter-viewpoints. So?
Dave, I was going to put you into a mention as well because I know you traveled and lived in parts of Asia so you know exactly the comparison of average life there and here.
Legion, I think it’s laziness. I am a lazy person but you will never see me bitching as to WHY I have a studio co-op and someone has a 3 million dollar brownstone. If that’s was my only goal in life, I would take out enormous loans, go through 15 years of schooling to become a surgeon, lawyer, whatever or open up a business and work 200 hours a week to get to that goal.
Biff, I consider you (Canadians) the other 5%. To me Canada is just an extension of U.S. (not meaning that in offensive way or in any political way). Also, Canada is not all that peachy because I have friends there and issues arise there as well. If you want higher expertise you have to wait for months to get appointments. If you want top notch surgeons, they don’t take gov’t insurance and take only cash. Look at it this way, if I had a set of skills that were irreplaceable and someone’s life counted on them, why the heck would I practice in a place like Canada when I can just move to U.S. and make literally millions and millions of dollars or stay in Canada and fuck the insurance and require cash?
No benson- no one did any as hominem attacks on you. You take everything and everyone who doesn’t agree with you as an ad hominem attack. I can remember several such explosive attacks by you on other posters, including THL, BRG and Montrose. So you have no cause to whine about anything over here. On the affordable housing thread you went after Orestes, who had not said anything to you or about you.
slopefarm- it isn’t what you say to me, its how you say it. If you think I’m a little excitable, perhaps everyone needs to take a good, long look at their own records as well. Lots of glass houses around here, if you catch my drift. Some of us seem more capable of overlooking their own characteristics than they are of overlooking others.

BTW, someone posted in the Forum that Google Streetviews have been updated and now include a number of Canadian cities.

Who gives a crap where anyone posts, and what they have to say about what they post and where? I’ve posted 1-2 times at the What’s blog, but don’t go there too often because I spend enough time screwing around here. If someone wants to post on both OT’s and talk about what’s happening THERE over HERE, no big deal. While that stuff pisses THL off (and I happen to like THL), I just don’t care. The Mother’s Day before my mother died, we were at a garden center together, and I bought her a hanging plant that she admired. She was very annoyed w ith me, but I refused to let her pay me back. A few months after my mother died, I was wearing my winter coat, which happened to have been at her house on Mother’s Day weekend, and I open the front pocket and there I discover 2 crumpled $5 bills. My mother had found a way to send me home with the $10 for the plant without my knowing about it – those $5 bills were the last thing she ever gave me, and they’re still in my coat pocket.
