f’ing ny times! im reading the home section this morning and there is an article about properly cleaning your clothes and some expert who wrote a 400 page book on the matter. i know youre supposed to seperate colors and whites, but this guy says you need 5 different piles. (i never seperate colors and whites) and it says that your clothes wind up turning all drab, which is true, my entire wardrobe is kinda drab and washed out, even the bright neon colored things. grr. i always thought color bleeding was an old wives tale. then he says that those concentrated small bottles of detergent are meant for NEWER front loading washing machines that use less water, not top loading older models. grrrr. i always buy the concentrated one 🙁 and i always overload, another no no apparently, apparently my clothes arent rubbing up on each other (called agitation) so essentially not getting clean. which i guess i sorta knew cuz sometimes ill take my clothes out of the washing machine and parts of certain things are still dry. one thing i was happy this guy said is that the detergents with chemicals they sell in the supermarket are actually MUCH better than the natural organic type detergents, so at least im doing something right!! i do like this part “Environmentalists may balk at using hot water and additional rinse cycles, but ms. mendelson is a fan” hahaha. “the cleaning power of hot water simply cannot be underestimated.” and “America’s dirty little secret is that Americans frequently wash clean clothes”. i totally agree with this, if you wear underwear there is no reason you need to wash your pants. “unless youre washing sports or gardening or dirty underwear lol, a lot of what wash isnt very dirty”
i hope you enjoy your lesson on laundry. do i get an A for my book report Arkady!?
Today’s FGVOTD features one of my favourite songs and will hopefully help keep things fun and calm.
It’s the legendary Ray Charles doing the definitive version of a classic. According to Wiki:
“Georgia on My Mind” is a song written in 1930 by Hoagy Carmichael (music) and Stuart Gorrell (lyrics). It is the official state song of the U.S. state of Georgia. Gorrell wrote the lyrics for Hoagy’s sister, Georgia Carmichael. However, the lyrics of the song are ambiguous enough to refer either to the state or to a woman named “Georgia”. Carmichael’s 1965 autobiography notes that a friend suggested: “Why don’t you write a song called ‘Georgia?’ Nobody lost much writing about the South.” Thus, the song is universally believed to have been written about the state.”
A quote from Ray, “I’m not into the money thing. You can only sleep in one bed at a time. You can only eat one meal at a time, or be in one car at a time. So I don’t have to have millions of dollars to be happy. All I need are clothes on my back, a decent meal, and a little loving when I feel like it. That’s the bottom line.”

– scared us for a minute
More like: Scared us for 23 minutes.
“jscheff, how did you rig the time?”
Yeah, aren’t there rules against backdating? And by backdating, I’m not referring to DIBS’ social life.
Whew!
“scared us for a minute”
No kidding. I was already forced to start thinking of other ways to waste away my entire day while at work.
jscheff, how did you rig the time?
The government has a job opening for you.
scared us for a minute
