Redistribution of wealth??? I think we need some definitions here.
First of all, I don’t think anyone will disagree that when the government is involved, it is the least efficient system imaginable. There have been many luminaries quoted on this, not fanbatics like Rush Limbaugh and Anne Coulter but the Founding Fathers…Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin FRanklin and that ilk.

re: Outrage – I think the docu maker of this is one that recently said he was convinced that LT Gov of SC is one of the closet #’s….and that is partially why some reluctance on many in SC to dump their philandering gov…because then they’d end up with a gay one.

The Mexican government has alot to answer for to it’s people.
Let me tell you, If I was Mexican, I would be a revolutionary. I would not settle for being marginalized in my own nation and forced to seek a life elsewhere.
mexico has plenty of money and resources.
They are simply corrupt and don’t give a damn about their poor.
as far as Canada, I know Canada is doing well with it’s resources but is facing increasing pressures from unchecked immigration. You will be facing some tough questions in the next decade as well.

Legion- I agree, to be poor in this country is not the same as being poor in Sierra Leone. But poverty in this country is no joke and hardly the well fed picture you are painting. I don’t see how having a safety net for basic and humane needs is a redistribution of wealth. I do think that so long as we are invested in the idea of competition and not cooperation, we are undercutting ourselves as a country. When the words “greater good” have no meaning, I don’t see much hope for us.

I don’t see it that way Legion. Stats I have read has shown greater redistribution of wealth to the top. Not the other way around
bxgrl, sorry no one HAS to die. People here get medical care being in Jail for goodness sakes. Care is provided to anyone. If you are dying, and can’t take care of your illness with you self employment, for goodness sakes, STOP doing anything for a living, get welfare and medicare and go get help. No one is stopping you. No one told you to be self employed. There are loads of government programs to help.
Sorry but I write a bunch, yet you pick at one last couple of words that I wrote. Are some people just generally down on luck and unfortunate? Yes. Do we need to nationalize healthcare for those and not look at other financial options? NO.
