Legion, I partially agree with your last point although the profile of immigrants to Canada is far different in terms of education, experience, wealth, profession, etc. I’m not saying they are better or worse as a people, I’m saying they typically are experienced professionals who have emigrated there legally (many from East Asia). If they don’t have a job they are going to, they also can come with tons of money they inject into the economy through opening businesses (such as what happened with the enormous influx of wealthy Chinese prior to 1998). Anyway, my point was simply to point out to Kens the reason Canadians do not typically illegally emigrate to the US for service / construction type jobs.
Kens- I was previously and for quite some time EMPLOYED. Becoming unemployed and still trying to find work and remain a productive member of society ought to be earning me kudos from you. I’m sure the second I go on wlefare you’ll be among those complaining about welfare queens.
By the way, you may want to take a look at some of the new reports coming out about health care reform before you condemn it out of hand. You say no one has to die, but actually many are.
^^^^^^^
But yes, it was 1997 when Hong Kong was handed over to Chinese control.
DIBS, last I checked 1997 is “prior to 1998”
🙂
Our own Charles Rangel, case in point.
“let me tell you, the only people coming out on top will be thuggish opportunists and vermin politicians.”
What a rosy outlook.
1997, Biff.

Interesting Pete. (I still need to figure out what new show has the poster with the really hot guy on it.)
Montrose;
I’ve said my peace. I have my reasons for posting what I did, but I’m not going to get into it here. Some folks on this site know of what I speak.
Peace to all.
