We like the looks of this two-bedroom brownstone rental at 561 Henry Street in Carroll Gardens. Everything appears to be in fine shape, the listing brags over 1,300 square feet of space, there’s a dishwasher, and heat and hot water is included in the rent. (Which is $3,000 a month, by the way.) There’s also a den and separate dining area. The rent isn’t unthinkable for that area of Carroll Gardens, which is only a few blocks to the Carroll Street subway. Think it’ll go get snapped up?

Since the M has taken over for the V, the F line has been far better now. If you hate it fine, that’s your experience with it and I’m not going to try and convince you otherwise. Personally I haven’t had any more problems on the F line than when I lived on other lines. I found the N & R to be far worse.

Back when I first moved to Boerum, Allen/Houston/Stanton/Delancey was my go to weekend destination. The F sucked on weekends. Not once or twice or for a year or two years but for a decade.

Maybe its totally better now that I’ve moved to the geriatric zone NW of there.

  2. You’re forgetting something. The apt and the F train isn’t next to the projects. And as we all know, everyone who Boerum Hill has projects and therefor is under constant gunfire and violent crime. At least down at this end of CG you may have to walk three blocks to the subway but it’s without getting shot at.

  3. “if henry is too far, that cuts down the amt of acceptable blocks in CG pretty low, no?”

Indeed. Especially because it’s just the F. If it was somewhere in the North Slope where you could walk to the 2/3, the B/Q or the N/R in 8-10 minutes, that could be a little different (maybe not close to all of them, but at least conveniently located to multiple lines).

  4. > Murder? What’s the discount for that?

    Discount?

What are the odds that another murder is going to happen at the same place?

Given the “already had a murder” state, it should command a premium.

  5. “Carol and dh — I think I kicked off the subway thing.

I think it’s a fine part of CG, just don’t sell it as being close to the subway. (If anything, sell it as being quiet yet only steps to Lucali, other restaurants and a bakery.)”

fair enough! yeah – it’s not “close” – but i don’t think it’s far enough away to warrant it being any less than 3k.

i mean, if henry is too far, that cuts down the amt of acceptable blocks in CG pretty low, no?

  6. I think there quite alot of elderly women living in the western part of Carrol Gardens, at least that’s been my impression when I’ve walked or driven around there during the day. That may explain the lack of snow removal, though not in a multi-family.
