  1. Sterling Place house is significantly over-priced. Yes, it’s a pretty house on a pretty block. But it’s also a 3-storey house that –while well maintained — hasn’t been renovated recently and doesn’t appear to have a high end kitchen (which begs the question about the bathrooms). $1.45m would be more realistic.

  2. “serbian immigrants” – LOL!! i’ve never heard that characterization of ditmas residents before.
but definitely block-by-block – my end of ditmas (altho it’s formally fiske terrace) is primarily orthodox jewish. not sure if they look serbian 🙂

  3. Hi guys… thought I would tune in to Brownstoner and see what was happening.

I agree that the DP house would be better if it were on a block of just houses, and not – clutch pearls – across the street from apartment building.

But I wouldn’t call this block sketchy or skanky.

  4. Thanks, DP.

We have close friends in PPS and have been making a habit of wandering around after we visit them. I def do not care for those parts of the area that have large apt buildings. Am quite amazed, really, at how many great houses are found (IME) west of the Q train trench, but I really have a lot to learn about the different micro-nabes.

  5. 7th Street looks nice, but photos as bad — worse — than the FSBO. Pics of ground cover in the backyard. Thanks!

Ditmas Park is very block by block. I went looking at houses in this area a few months ago. Lots of young families out and about, but my friend said he thought everyone looked like Serbian immigrants. He said, “I guess that makes sense since half these people ARE Serbian immigrants and the other half are from Park Slope” They do have a look over there.

  6. Yes, Maly, I’ve seen, well, not that exactly, but obvious editing of views in particular. What’s most noticeable to me, actually, is sort of impossible focal lengths — sharpness inside and outside that is really not possible without editing. It looks weird and slightly creepy.

Though I would guess that ditmaspark is right in that they are not actually editing out things like cracks in the walls; that would just be too dicey.

Yes, pigeon, I have always found as well that the real never matches the photos, usually worse, but certainly sometimes better.
