House of the Day: 105 St. Marks Avenue
For a house that is described in the listing as “flawless and gracious,” 105 St. Marks Avenue could do with some more photos. (Update: When we wrote this up on Friday there were only four small photos. They’ve got a lot more up now!) Sure, the three interior shots provided look nice, but for all…

For a house that is described in the listing as “flawless and gracious,” 105 St. Marks Avenue could do with some more photos. (Update: When we wrote this up on Friday there were only four small photos. They’ve got a lot more up now!) Sure, the three interior shots provided look nice, but for all we know the rest of the house could be a warren of small rooms with dropped ceilings and recessed lighting! Seriously though, show us your stuff, especially when you are asking $2,500,000 for a house in Prospect Heights, a bold move in this market. We’re not saying this couldn’t be a $2,500,000 house, but we need a little more convincing.

everytime you mention track or recessed lighting in a negative manner i LOL to myself hardcore, it’s almost as absurd as my intense fear of peakcocks. one day you are going to have to share what about it that turns you off so much. you cant just drop bombs like that non stop without any explanation.

You might consider a name change, dbrown. I’m liking dfrown for you.
🙂
The phone number scrawled in the window dust in the 3rd photo is a nice touch. A careful renovation indeed!
Can’t wait to see what baseboard moldings the lucky buyers choose for the garden level.
Maly, is there even any actually mention of the kitchens and bathrooms?
You can’t tell the quality of the windows from these poics, the wall colors are easily changed and the floors may have 3 coats of poly on them istead of one (which would be cheap) and the casings look like they are mahogany.
But I guess you can see more through these pics than I can.
“Nomi…I don’t think you’re a frownstoner, I mostly just like saying it.” (11217)
Phew. Cause I am actually one of those poor innocent people who was once accused of being a broker on here.
“More like the satin finish that Dave mentioned.”
I’m with Nomi on liking the floors Dave mentioned. I agree that it would look better furnished. Also with different paint colors on the walls.
Dibs, what’s to like about the reno? The colors are ugly, the floors and trims finish looks odd, the windows look cheap. They’re so proud of the kitchens and bathrooms, there are no picture. What looks glorious are the material they went to work with, the visible bones of the original house.
“Since no one is paying any atention to my posts today . . .” (ML)
Aww, I am.
I’m not wishing for dull farmhouse plank flooring. More like the satin finish that Dave mentioned.
It does not look like a careless renovation to me either, except that my associations with the high gloss IS cheap renovation.
