I am looking for someone to grout a shower stall. It seems very hard to find a person to just do that. Does anyone have any good recommendations. Thank you

For requests for small jobs, it would help to know what neighborhood you are in. Small job contractors and handy-men are generally neighborhood based to get a reasonable price. Ask at your neighborhood hardware store, or if you have a decent large apartment building, ask the super there.

I understand you will find someone to do this modestly priced job, and my advice is not for you. I specialize in shower stalls because many years ago I had the same problem with grout in my own 1939 co-op apartment. I learned lead pans are obsolete and poisonous. Lead paint has been illegal for decades, yet we stand with our bare feet in lead saturated water, and lead pans are still installed, still in the NYC building code. Even if the pan uses vinyl, not lead, the system of waterproofing is obsolete. Pans drain poorly. Water soaks in to grout lines above pans, damaging substrate in walls, and causing mold. A puddle of soggy, porous, sandy concrete under your floor tile dissolves calcium in your grout and concrete. The calcium is re-depositing and dissolving all the time, bulging and tenting tile. You can see the grey-white deposits, laced with oxides of lead. It doesn’t dry between showers. You come home from long vacations, it may still be wet. Re-grouting isn’t going to fix this. Magic “sealer” or cleaning methods won’t help. When you rebuild your shower or renovate your bathroom, use a direct drainage system with waterproof membranes on all wet areas. The grout will be peremenant, the mold will not come back, and you won’t be standing on lead. I hope I have explained why I don’t re-grout shower stalls.
