What can be put on top of a rubber roof?
I am getting my roof redone. New rubber sheets and aluminum coated. I’d love to have some covering to make it nice (and occassionally walkable, and low, low maintenance).
I was thinking that a high-quality astro-turf could be a good option, but someone told me I would never be able to put furniture on the roof – that it would damage the roof and cause leaks because the astroturf isnt strong enough
Is this true? Any suggestions?
Thanks!

this stuff is really good it has interlocking rubber base it can sit on any type of roof without damaging it, make sure your roof can handle the extra load

Google “roofing walk pads”. They’re made for machine vibration, walking, maintenance, etc. A good roofer should have been able to tell you about these. Instead of aluminum, ask your roofer about reflective granulate. For low, low maintenance, make sure your roofer pitches the roof properly and is not adding another layer when what you really need is a tear-off. If you still want to go the aluminum route, don’t waste money on coating if you’re adding walk pads or astroturf.

Keep in mind that if you want a large area it needs to be non-combustible.
