Roofing Material Choice: Asphalt Paper versus EPDM (aka Rubber Roof)

My wife and I just closed on a Brownstone and need to re-roof. Across the rooftops on our block, and most blocks I have lived on over the years, one sees both Asphalt paper sheeting and EPDM roofing. Can someone elaborate on the differences between the two, the advantages and disadvantages of each and all that? Grateful for any advice.

Not likely to be asphalt paper.  What you want is a rubberized Firestone material, the specific name & acronym I can’t remember now.  Call Nick at leakmasters.  He’ll come over and lay out all the options.
