Brooklyn burger lovers rejoice: Shake Shack has finally decided to shack up in our borough. The Daily News reported yesterday the popular burger and shake joint will be in the Fulton Mall next year. While it would have been cool to see them in the old Gage and Tollner spot, the restaurant will be moving into Tony’s Famous Pizza at the corner of Fulton and Adams, right outside of the Jay Street subway. Seems like a fail-proof location to us. Shake Shack is just the latest of new arrivals to the Fulton Mall; Filene’s, SYMS, H&M and Aeropostal are also on the roster. Think Fulton Mall could be Brooklyn’s next destination spot?

Young people, especially hipsters, are stupid enough to wait in lines for anything they deem trendy. They have a lot to learn.
“old people hate waiting in lines”
And youngins should not speak until they are spoken to.
I agree with Biff and dave about not waiting in line for an hour or more (unless of course you’re going to camp out overnight waiting for Apple to release its latest iSomething or for Black Friday sales to start, NOT), especially when there are equally good, if not better, options. Also agree with Biff about Five Guys — had a great burger & fries from Five Guys just the other night.
Yes, Biff, Mile End is the place I was referring to. Absolutely ridiculous. I’ve seen close to 30 people outside on a Sunday.
I suppose they are all the dumb people with money that BHO has to compete with, driving up the prices of brooklyn brownstones beyond peak comps.
11217, I totally agree with you on Mile End! You have great taste. Unfortunately, with kids, I don’t always have the luxury of having time to hang out there for very long. I’m envious of you that you can. How I wish they would expand and/or make the takeout line move faster!
old people hate waiting in lines.
There’s a lot of stereotyping here on both sides. I’m white and live in brownstone Brooklyn (Brooklyn Heights) and I’m certain I spend more time in Fulton Mall than most posters here. While the arrival of Shake Shack, H&M, and other popular stores may signal a trend (as slight as it’s been up to now) towards UWS-ness, I see successful stores opening in Fulton Mall as a huge positive. There is more than enough room for a wide variety of stores and restaurants, including chains and independents that offer something for everyone.
Biff,
I will wait as long as they tell me to wait at Mile End for that smoked meat sandwich. That is ABSOLUTELY the best in the city, in my opinion. WAY better than Katz’s and WAY better than Carnegie Deli.
And their pickles are THE BOMB!

but yeah – you guys aren’t getting an eleven madison park, you’re getting a (good) hamburger stand. fulton mall will still be the grimy (successful) retail strip that brownstoners love to hate.
