Brooklyn burger lovers rejoice: Shake Shack has finally decided to shack up in our borough. The Daily News reported yesterday the popular burger and shake joint will be in the Fulton Mall next year. While it would have been cool to see them in the old Gage and Tollner spot, the restaurant will be moving into Tony’s Famous Pizza at the corner of Fulton and Adams, right outside of the Jay Street subway. Seems like a fail-proof location to us. Shake Shack is just the latest of new arrivals to the Fulton Mall; Filene’s, SYMS, H&M and Aeropostal are also on the roster. Think Fulton Mall could be Brooklyn’s next destination spot?

  1. Strangely the only time I have eaten a Shake Shack burger was at a Mets game. Was in the good seats and had somebody bring it to my seat. Considering what one normally eats at baseball games this was a treat.

  2. “@dh- your comments about SS are as transparently envy-filled as those commenters who rag on the burg for being filled with over-entitled hipsters. We’re all excited about new things happening in our respective neighborhoods. So stop being so selfish and be happy for someone once in a while! ”

actually, no. yay shake shack – good shit. it annoys me to no end that all the snobby elitists on this blog think there’s something wrong with Fulton Mall, and something like Shake Shack is going to turn it into some sort of yuppie strip mall.

  3. “What’s wrong with Junior’s burgers?”

Nothing, as long as the rats roaming around in Junior’s food display cases don’t bother you. But, the rats only seemed interested in the cheesecake, so I guess you’re safe with the burgers.

  4. “For those who are ragging on Fulton Mall – isn’t it the highest grossing psf shopping area in all of Brooklyn??”

Thank you! People believe because it isn’t filled with Gap and LL Bean stores it somehow means it’s a failure and has been for a long time.

  5. Once the Apple Store opens at the Municipal Building, gentrification of the Fulton Mall will continue in more earnest, bringing that strip into the 21st century, and providing a place to shop IN Brooklyn for all Brooklynites and providing the full spectrum of services. Some of those stores have a HUGE footprint which could accomodate some chains Brooklyners would love having there, like Bed and Bath, Container Store, a Gap/Gap Kids, CB2/Crate and Barrel, etc, and if you think those are only for white people or yuppies or hipsters, you’re a fool.
