benson, it’s true. Italian history/accomplishment/etc is super impressive. I can accept that being more impressive over Chinese one. but that’s about the only ethnic group I would cede to.

sheesh g10, are you talking American pop music only? Many Asians in orchestra pit in all the leading orchestras, many well known and esteemed soloists out there…
Mitsuko Uchida probably one of the all time great Mozart interpreters, possibly my fave.
Kyung-Wha Chung considered a great violinist.
Anyway, how much ‘soul’ do you need playing Western Classical music? Too much and you are considered to be overly romantic.
