  1. Legion, you are right. Those people did oppose the tightening of standards. What’s awful is that majority of Waters’ constituents (blacks and latinos) were suckered into some of the worst loans and have been hit very hard by the downturn in housing.

  2. “For me, arguing with you here IS porn. ”

    haha – naughty naughty!

i bet you can’t wait til your homey wine lover joins the yummus thread and gives it a 4 page glowing review on how it’s filled with wonderful artists that give free blowjobs

  3. “g10 and ishtar, no govt bailouts, I was referring to complaints that many thought the fed should have acted in keeping asset prices from rising too high.”

Nope. They did the right thing. Some of those companies had to go, even though it cost me my first job out of undergrad before I could even start it. LOL

  4. m4l, regardless we will need an informed electorate for anything to work. It pains me to listen to most people express their views on the issues because they can’t think beyond their situation AND they’re usually under this crazy assumption that things change over night.

I can disagree with someone on what’s better as long as they at least have a broader knowledge of what’s going on, but I’m not trying to hear what anyone has to say if they really think their unemployment, loss of home, or general shitty quality of life can be blamed entirely on politicos. We function in a dynamic system and the most we can expect is to provide a safety net for the majority, which means some people will have to be thrown to the wolves. I think republicans and democrats have generally done a decent job of that. Given our current economic situation I don’t expect much from either party. I just want them to quit tinkering with shit so much and let some aspects of the market be free to work itself out.
