Dealing with a bad recruiter is like speaking to an employer through a very bad telephone connection. The recruiter just screws up communication. Better to just lose the extra layer of interference.
“Eating:
Lot 2 on 19th and 6th. The burger = YUM!
Prime Meats – everything – YUM!
Franny’s – had an incredible meal there a few weeks ago.
Drinking:
Been hanging at The Bell House a lot lately.”
Prime Meats is awesome. I had one of the best meals ever there during the winter.
Any good music at The Bell House lately? I’ve heard a few good shows pop up there here and there, but it looks like Bowery Presents still holds a monopoly over bookings in Brooklyn/Downtown Manhattan.
Have you made it to Kaz a Nou in PH? I’ve heard from several people it’s awesome.
“doesn’t the very fact that you’ve had such a poor experience w/ her color your opinion of the “smart guys””
Well, in fact it does, quite a bit, Arkday. I’m very surprised that they work with her AT ALL. It’s all part of the hair-pulling. I wrote them nice notes thanking them for referring me — before I had gotten far enough into the process to SEE how unprofessional she was/is. Ugh.
On the other hand, I also know that the recruiting firm they worked with in the past had some pretty unprofessional people working in it, too.
CHiller – If they’re pretty smart guys they might want to know that they’re feeding people bum steers. I always like being told that a resource I’ve recommended is good or not – doesn’t the very fact that you’ve had such a poor experience w/ her color your opinion of the “smart guys”? I doubt you’re the only person who has found her wanting.

It’s at the top of my list!
Actually seen some good shows at The Bell House lately but come to think of it, I’ve been going to Mission Dolores even more lately.
Have you been to The Rock Shop next door, owned by the same folks as Bowery?

There’s always a wait, Dave. But I usually just go take a walk or have a drink or two in the meantime.
Obviously early-ish on the weekdays are better. Doesn’t get really hopping till 8. But I’m a late eater, so I usually just go and wait.
Cobble, your instincts are your best guide. I am sure that you can blow this person off elegantly.
11217, when’s the best time to go to Prime meats to minimize the wait for a table???

“Cat on Roomba Vacuum….”
Very funny!
