  1. Thanks for the suggestion, DH. I haven’t actually heard of Traif…what kind of food?

I love bowling, so I probably wouldn’t go back to Brooklyn Bowl again for the food and music (since I already have Blue Ribbon in my hood) but it was fun to try once. For real bowling Melody is the place. And it’s like 10 or 15 bucks or something. So effin cheap, I couldn’t even believe it. The Manhattan places are not an option. Been there, hated them.

Didn’t like Fatty Cue, although I do like Fatty Crab on the UWS.

Thistle Hill is great, but don’t make a special trip to PS for it cause you’ll probably be disappointed. You’ve got better places in your hood, but this is a really nicely done place for 7th Avenue with good atmosphere and food. If you’re in the hood, definitely do give it a go though. I think it will be getting better and better…the credentials are there…two Inoteca alums…

  2. “For a second day, the match between John Isner and Nicolas Mahut, the longest tennis match in history, has been suspended because of darkness.”

Damn. You’d think one guy would have made a stupid, unintentional mistake by now and blown the match. This could go on for days!

  3. “Brooklyn Bowl is fun, but SO expensive!!

Went to Melody Lanes in Sunset Park for the first time recently…no Blue Ribbon but that place is FUN AS HELL! It’s like going back in time. A genuine, no frills mom and pop bowling alley.”

Yeah, I’ve never actually bowled at Brooklyn Bowl (it’s near impossible on the weekend, and $100/hr is a bit steep) – but the food, beer and music are typically good.

Good to know about Melody Lanes – will have to check it out. Sometimes bowling is a must and the places in Manhattan have all turned into quasi 23rd street clubs with bouncers and dress codes.

I’m curious to try the ROTD yesterday (the place that looks like the winchester in shaun of the dead) with the pork belly you mentioned.

Also, if you’re in my neck of the woods you should check out Traif (if you haven’t already) – reviews have been rave and it’s def next on my list.

    Pass on Fatty ‘Cue
