Cobble/Snaps – You all should open a craft store a la Michael’s or JoAnn’s. We aren’t the only whackos who want stuff like that &, as mentioned on the thread about shop closings, there’re no shops for scrap-booking etc. around here. That’s why Snaps had to go to the outer borough & Queens & Staten Isl. for supplies!
I can make ‘mushrooms’ out of meringue! I made little ‘kisses’ for a few years.
Thanks for the encouragement and suggestions, people. I do know about the regulations required [generally]. I have thought about renting space. I did sell cookies last year at a pretty good price, made back my actual costs and then a bit. Will continue to consider.
Now must get back to my non-profit/unpaid work. [I’d be FINE if this paid!]
1) I didn’t find Biff’s comment offensive. I am Christian but not Catholic, so maybe that’s it.
2) Rob is right – it does seem to be “acceptable” / PC to make jokes about some religions but not others.
3) There’s a difference between commenting about one’s own religion and those of others. Some of the folks telling Benson to lighten up have been quick to accuse others of anti-semitism in previous threads re Hasidim, for example.
Think momentum. Start small. Think about when and where someone would want to buy what you can make. If the first sale takes two months, that’s OK. Congratulate yourself wiht a beer and then concentrate on the next sale. It will come quicker than the first. And the next sooner than that. This might be a strange way to look at it and I’m sure it doesn’t feel like this to you but right now you have the LUXURY of time. You can spend two months making that first sale.
Don’t be afraid of regulations. Figure out how to work within them.

Scientology is easy to make fun of.

Issac Hayes quit because of the episode they made fun of Scientology.

DeLepp;
Thanks for the correction. It really doesn’t change my larger point about when folks like to beat on their chest about freedom of expression.

Yeah, I thought the creators refused to stop the jokes. Isn’t that why (was it Issac Hayes) quit?
