“I’ve thought about it, but I’m not professionally trained, I have no idea how to do such a thing, and besides this area is saturated with really good baked goods.”
Cobble, don’t give me that horsehit!
Professionally trained??? to do what?
You bake great cookies! I can be trained to do it and guaranteed mine will come out like crap.
You’re good at it…end of discussion.
Idea how to do what?
– Bake the effing cookies.
– Wrap them up in bags with ribbons or put in little boxes
– Tell your family and friends you’re selling them for X dollars per.
– Charge less for your cookies than the over-priced ones that are saturating your nabe.
– Word will spread
And F*ck that area….there are other areas you can target.
Most people on this blog were not adversely affected by the downturns of the economy. Some may not have made as much as they were used to, or had to endure some kind of cost cutting proceedures at work, but basically, not too many here had their standard of living change. Some even found new jobs.
Others of us did not do so well. I know I didn’t. My entire industry came to a screeching halt, and my employer went out of business. I was lucky to be able to hang on longer than most others because I was involved in the dissolution of our physical assets, and helped sell off, or pack up everything. Our office space ended up being rented to a company that books pro tennis players at tournements. Wonder how they are doing. I didn’t even get unemployment, or health insurance, as they saw the handwriting on the wall and made me an independent contractor the year before, to cut costs. So I’m in there with Bxgrl and Cobble, Snappy and others.
I’m glad things are getting better for the financial sector, but like the failure of trickle down economics, it hasn’t trickled to the rest of the work force. People still aren’t hiring, and expecially for experienced, older workers, who expect more than $38K a year, jobs are few and far between. I’m fortunate that I have a couple of writing gigs, but there still is nothing in my old industry, and little freelance work in it, either.
Like CobbleSnaps Productions, I know lots of people who have great ideas for new companies, new products, books, etc. But all of that takes start up or living money, and that either means having a spouse who can support you, a job that can pay the bills and then some, or an inheritance or winning Lotto. Everyone seems to think “crisis over”, let’s bash Obama for his mistakes, and look for a good Hamptons rental, it should be cheap this year, but for the majority of people who are now unemployed, it’s still the dead of winter.
That’s not to say we are crying in our cheap beer, we all endure and wrack our brains to find that job, or that new calling, and we try to be out there and socialize and appear normal, but as Cobble and Bxgrl said, it’s not easy, and it’s not over.
You two have hit the nail on the head. Let me make one more statement, and then I’ll drop this issue.
-as Snappy said, if I’m offended by something, I’m going to speak my mind, and I don’t care who is on my side and who is not. When one goes on an un-moderated blog, one can expect to find alot of offensive things. If you’re sensitive, it’s no place for you. However, we all have our lines of decency, and mine ends with jokes about the Virgin Mary in a thread loaded with sexual imagery and innuendo.
-this place is loaded with hypocrites, as Rob rightly noted. Folks are trying to tell me that there isn’t self-censorship and group-think on certain topics here? Who is BS’ing whom?
It’s ironic that this issue comes up at the same time as this “South Park” incident. Those two guys who produce that series thought that they were oh-so-clever and witty when they were mocking the usual “safe” targets. However, when it came time to show some real balls and mock some real holy cows, suddenly they had some second thoughts about freedom of expression.
April 28 (Bloomberg) — Holders of Greek bonds may lose as much as 200 billion euros ($265 billion) should the government default, according to Standard & Poor’s.
The first “End of the world party” was about ‘SUBPRIME”, the next one is about Financial Nuclear Detonation! You see that figure dumbass?? Just double it and let’s move on to Spain, Portugal, Ireland and Italy!!!!

It’s very complicated to sell baked goods – lots of codes & licenses.

Sounds good, we PLUSAs will use any excuse to have a party.
😉
but I like it both ways!
“You will not make it out 2010…”
I guess we should mark our calendars for the third annual end of the world party. A little later this year than in the past two.”
