  1. by the way,

forgive me if I sound like I’m ranting,

it’s just that I’m responding to
    bxgrl,
    ENY,
    Wasder,
    blowfish,
    cobble
    all at once.

    I wouldn’t mind a coffee break here either.lol.

    M4L,
it’s not over by a long shot, as I’ve stated,
they passed a reconciliation bill which wil be challenged on amendments next,
we may be starting this all over again next week, I’m afraid.

not to mention, the states themseves, 37 and counting thus far, have their attorney generals lined up to challenge this idea of mandated healthcare one by one.

  2. This morning, or last night, John Boehner said the vote “disgraces” the values of history’s lawmakers, and went on to invoke the shades of Moses and Thomas Jefferson, who he asserts are spinning in their graves over the passing of health care reform. What a drama queen!

I’ve been watching him since Obama became president, and he has yet to contribute one single, solitary positive point to any conversation he’s a part of. “No” is his calling card, his answer to everything. He’s always whining that there is no bi-partisanship, yet he disses every single idea or program the Dems bring up, and refuses to work with them at all. Yet he’s the first one crying that the Democrats won’t work with the Republicans. Ohio needs to say “No” to him, next time around. Can’t wait.

Maybe now, I can finally get health insurance. Woo hoo!

  3. cobble,

no we won’t go “commie” anytime soon,
that’s what the 2nd amendment is for
    to protect from tyranny.

what concerns me is a shift towards European
    style socialism.
    which does not work.

There was a reason why folks left Europe.
and it wasn’t because they didn’t like the cooking.
Now we’re trying again to style ourselves in the European manner.
They don’t exactly have a great history of leadership,
I could list their distinguished despotic heads of state throughout the 20th century again, if you like.

Have faith in your own nation’s values not Europe’s please.

  4. Legion- so on the one hand medicare is an entitlement (damn that LBJ!) but you’re upset at the 20% cut to doctors? If it really upsets you, don’t take medicare, toss all those old folks out on the street without a second thought.

I am not saying doctors have it easy. Or that they don’t deserve to be paid well for their work. But the money isn’t going to doctors either- the big bucks go to administration and insurance costs. But you guys are in a field that people’s lives depend on.Did you not know the situation when you became a doctor?

And I know you really have dedicated yourself to helping people- I admire you more than I can say. But the free market system you like so much is also the problem. All those businesses who want to make money off the medical profession- insurers, lawyers, manufacturers, administrators- they are all living the free market system dream of making as much money as they can, because hey, it’s the American way. If caring about the common good makes me a socialist then I am an unrepentant commie, leftist pinko. (But I still admire you!)

  5. Hey Legion–here is your slap on the back. You are a good dude for coming into a place like this and trying to have a substantive conversation about something that you know you are outnumbered on. I really do appreciate that about you.

But procedural maneuvering is the only way to get substantive legislation passed. This is, and always has been, the way thing get done in congress. People have their things that they will compromise on and if you throw enough bones you get the votes. It should be no shock to anyone that this is the way our congress operates.

  6. blowfish,
please see my simple number calculation just above your previous post.

in the end, the problem with socialism folks, is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.

please google Greece default and see what I am alluding to.
