Think of it this way: A clunker that travels
12,000 miles a year at 15 mpg uses 800 gallons
of gas a year.
A vehicle that travels 12,000 miles a year at 25
mpg uses 480 gallons a year.
So, the average Cash for Clunkers transaction
will reduce US gasoline consumption by 320
gallons per year.
They claim 700,000 vehicles so that’s 224
million gallons saved per year. That equates to
a bit over 5 million barrels of oil. 5 million
barrels is about 5 hours worth of US
consumption.
More importantly, 5 million barrels of oil at $70
per barrel costs about $350 million dollars.
So, the government paid $3 Billion of our tax
dollars to save $350 million.
We spent $8.57 for every dollar we saved.
I’m pretty sure they will do a great
job with our health care, though.
I can’t walk over the Brooklyn Bridge any more, so if anyone can recommend another bridge I’d be grateful. That rude Wall Street biker guy was lying in wait for me (no homo) on Friday night, hiding behind the Manhattan tower, and when I approached, he came tearing out from behind the tower, heading straight for me on his bike!! Good thing I was walking over the Bridge with BH (Cobble’s BH; I don’t have a BH) so at least I had a tall person to hide behind.
You’re just averse to saying “straight”, dibs.
CarGar – Goats are good for controlling trolls.
Speaking of goats, Kens offered to let his goats graze under the Bridge to protect me from the evil biker, but I’m not sure that will work.
But “Neat” does sound more classy, Arkady.
No, dibs. Getting your goat is.
EFFICIENCY OF GOVERNMENT……………….

Dibs – Ask for it “straight up” if you don’t want to appear to be a sot.
Is “grabbing the goat” a euphemism???
