why is practically EVERY broker/agent who works for Corcoran an SVP or VP? like wow! so many bosses!
and why does Brooklyn Properties price their properties much higher than other brokerages but then when the place sits for 3,6,9 months NEVER reduce the price….
Women bosses have a bad rep left over from when affirmative action was instituted & lots of big companies such as AT&T, IBM, etc. put women into positions for which they were totally unqualified – they were lousy at their jobs &, because of insecurity, frequently real bitches. I used to refuse to work w/ a team of women. Nowadays, it seems to me, most women who rise in an organization deserve to have done so & are good w/ people skills as well.
THL/Loss of Words
again, very true – my problem is always having to prove that I am working a project WITH YOU, not assisting you to work the project yourself!
THL, I would have to agree with you on a certain level. I never really managed people or difficult people but I can see where that can come from and people expect women to be nurturing. But do you think it had only to do with the female factor? Did it have anything to do with you’re an outsider of a takeover of a TARP recipient?
I work with a team of all men so it can be hard to get my ideas across. It has taken some time for them to listen to me and honestly most of that was my experience level (which was low initially). I think I have been able to gain some confidence among them that now they consider me “one of the guys” and they are starting to listen. I still realize it’s going to be a long road on getting heard. But I don’t think I have to be a crazy bitch to do that.
On the flipside we have another woman working who heads a section of our group and all the guys think she’s nuts and to their credit and I hate to admit this but she is. Only a crazy woman boss would tell her female co-worker out of a fit of anger “you probably slept with him”.
there is certainly a give and take, some things are more important than others.
I gave up on the quiet street in my case for the backyard and better school location.
THL,
wait ’till you start your collection of car seats and walkers!
Rob- I was privy to over 500 peoples salary records. It’s absolutely true. In some locations to a lesser extent, like in NYC but absolutely the disparity is there.
Porn in the COTD thread…get your asses up there.
two things to note about Realtors:

Female bosses – different but not necessarily worse, in my experience.
