Agreed! God knows how many crazy women bosses are out there! But I have worked with some good, pragmatic ones as well.
some things to consider with children when shopping for a home:
-school district, if you’re going the public route
-location on street, kids like to play in the front, with other kids. Avoid major roads if possible since toddlers like to run around and sometimes escape.
-calculate at least another 400 sq feet for kids toys like the baby kitchen and the giant race track from grandpa.
-backyard space if possible or access to greenspace.
-proximity to parks for walking and meeting other parents.
-room placement, some parents like to keep newborns in a separate room but easily accessable at 2:00am.
“they are also THE WORST to work for according to most people”

“do not under-estimate how much “stuff” (toys, clothing, stroller,…..) comes with just 1 kid. think that thru when you’re gauging how many sqf is enough”
Funny you say that. We got the stroller the other day and The hubs said, “where are we going to park this thing? It’s like a Hummer just rolled into the living room.”
It folds up nicely by the front door but yeah, kids crap takes up a lot of space!
On the whole NYT article: While I agree women’s earnings have increased significantly since the 70’s there is still a disparity in salaries between a man and a woman holding the same position.

Sarah Palin notwithstanding, of course.
okay – I’ve read the Times article now.
‘Do you have a passport and a library card?’
I would fail at this question.
