I’m also asking you to examine what it is you mean when you say poor in america, because too many times this term is thrown around with all the assumptions of a Sally Struthers commercial.
Legion, every time I go to Louisiana I see that “Sally Struthers commercial” level of poor. And I am not exaggerating. I have family that live that way. Just because you don’t see it in your immediate surroundings or everyday does not mean it doesn’t exist here in the USA.
CMU – the standard of living has been raised in many countires countries exporting to the US, your protectionism would have mitigated or even prevented that. No need to be so chauvinistic about whose standard of living sould be raised.
>>what we have lost is the manufacturing base due to much more complex factors
>>Stop staring at your navel and realize that we are in a global economy.
>>Just because you don’t own any stock the dividends have been “stolen” from the ordinary Americans?????
yes, it is a global economy. but the exporting of our jobs overseas have benefited the rich more(who hold greater % of equity) than the poor. The profits at big corporations were passed on at a lower tax rate (div tax cut) to the wealthy, who just kept the money. part of that money should have been spent on job re-training or creating new and dynamic industries. otherwise, we are going to continue to see the unemployment rate continue to climb and more social unrest to come.
“I’m very happy. I just can’t stand it when nutjobs like Stevie spin their own economic theories to support their political beliefs.”
Oh, ok, now we get the ad hominen attacks. I guess sane, calm, rational, correct people like you and Legion should allowed to spout your apolitical, humanistic beliefs without retort.

That’s true, ditto. And as a immigrant from one of them, you’ve spiked my guns awhile.
