  1. more4less, I hope you’re also taking in the action on the “Bank Predicts NYC Market to Fall Another 40 Percent” thread. Posters are swinging away in there. What a day for you!

  2. I’m with denton and Kens on this- and i agree. Speculating about someone’s background is foolish. Brooklyn wasn’t the only tough place to grow up in, and plenty of us and our families did the bootstrap thing so this whole “only the Brooklyn-born know NYC” stuff to be ludicrous. (and I <3 THL too!)

“Name one time in New York City history when WHOLE NEIGHBORHOODS was subjugated and large numbers of people had to move out for “Progress”, HUH????!!!”

Oh well- you were one up on us in the Bronx. The Bronx got burned down- and not for progress. Homes completely destroyed, people burned to a crisp, neighborhoods decimated- not just “subjugated”. Think it was violent in Brooklyn? Oh- and did I neglect to mantion the disease factor that resulted from all the arson? And not the changing demographics but the NO demographics? You would have been considered a wuss in the Bronx. It’s only been within the last maybe 10-12 years the Bronx has begun to come back. Compared to that, Brooklyn was practically a cakewalk.

  3. Gem!! I was so sure you were there and I just missed you! You MUST come to the next one. Noki and I had a great chat about RHoNJ – we needed you in there with us!!

“I go up and down with this feeling, not because of Mr B’s editorial take but because of the trolls and the investment that some folks have in shitting on other people. I find this tiresome and frustrating.”

Likewise, wasder, likewise. Although I have to say I don’t like Mr. B’s editorial take at times. But I’ve lost the will/energy to fight it! LOL!

  4. Benson, I will miss you as well, and even though we probably will never agree on much politically, or on other issues of the day, I always respected you, and like you very much in person. It’s all just talk and opinion, that’s all a blog is, and this one has brought together a disparate community of people who probably never would meet, and from it have come real friends, at least for me. I include you in that group. I hope you come back, and I sincerely wish you and your wife and family the best.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think too many here were born with silver spoons, and some of us have had similar, or equally challenging life circumstances. All of that shapes who we are now, and in the long run, all of us are only trying to make our lives, and the lives of those we love and respect better. I think that binds us together much more than the petty differences separate us.
