  1. “i <3 ENY”

Huh? I don’t know what that means.

“*** The What breakdance on the floor****”

    THAT was funny!

“”Benson in the “Good ole days” if pussies like Brownstoner post someone’s house and made nasty remarks that person(s) would’ve rang his bell and beat the fucking shit out of him (You know I’m right)!!!!”

He probably is right about this.

Benson is a great guy, hands down. I agree with him that Mr. Brownstoner at times goes to far. To me, it seems that he (Brownstoner) tends to place everything in the context of historic preservation, and any views that oppose or conflict with the end goal of saving and restoring old buildings are unworthy and subject to ridicule. I try to call him out on it when I believe see it, and then move on, because it’s his blog, he can say whatever he feels.

However, while no one appreciates history and historic structures more than me, I’m old enough to know that you can’t save everything. Furthermore some things, although old, aren’t worth saving. I don’t see any of that from Mr. Brownstoner. It’s almost like he’s a modern-day Ellsworth M. Toohey.

The What remains the single funniest and among the most prescient posters on this blog. I don’t always agree with him, but his contributions here are invaluable, although I don’t approve of how he tends to sling around the insults. But he does crack me up, and he makes some very good points at times, as I see it.

Benson, take it easy my man and have a good break. Hope to hear from you again soon.

  2. “Like the What, there are many things I miss about the old New York, about growing up in the 70s. Still, change is inevitable. I’m a New Yorker and I will never leave.” – What

    Yeah I just love being:

    1. robbed at gunpoint walking to school in 8th grade at 7 in the morning by some cokehead.

    2. stabbed/sliced during a fight of 2 against 20.

    3. having my jaw dislocated during a robbery of my friends nintendo while walking to my house.

(Disclaimer: All happend to me in Kensington in the 90s.)

I would just love my kids to be exposed to that as opposed to walking on the streets of Brooklyn safely (sarcasm). Oooo, this NYC is soo bad. It’s actually safe to get out of the subway at midnight and walk home. Wow, who would actually want that? I want my kids to run home from school and dodge bullets, hey why not, it will only make them tougher if they survive. I’ll just have like 5 kids and I figure 4 will survive the tough NYC and I’ll only lose one. (more sarcasm).
