All the units, except for the penthouses, are rented out at 80 Dekalb. But the Brownstoner Marketplace has a studio rental by owner if you’re kicking yourself for missing the boat. Obviously everything’s pretty new and shiny, and this unit is way up on the 35th floor. We’ll also say this looks much more spacious than your average studio. But the rent goes for $2,130 a month, sans broker fee, and it’s only for ten months with option to renew. Sounds like someone got transferred right after renting this place!

  1. “anybody that spends over 2k for a studio needs their head examined, it is just retarded.”

yeah – spending 2k for a “one bedroom” brownstone garden rental that has the same square footage and is dark, probably floods and has no amenities is way less retarded.

  2. Crappy location? Hardly. It may not be in the heart of Fort Greene, but at least you’re a hellava lot closer to the subway than most of the area’s residents.
I actually really like this building and am hoping that some amenities (drug store; dry cleaners) open up on the ground floor soon so I won’t have to go out of my way to pick up things on the way home.

  3. “DH, if 400 sq ft then it’s not bad cause it would be like 20 x 20 box.”

yeah – 20×20 using the exterior walls. But once you build out the huge walk in closet, closet for W/D and the bathroom the living area is probably 13×13. Not terrible, but kinda hard to fit furniture since you lose one wall to the galley kitchen.

    20 x 20 box.

LOL and to qualify for that box you need to make 96,000 K a year!! (per the 40 x income rule) even tho most buildings make it 45 x the month income so most likely you need to make 108,000 dollars a year!!!!! what is wrong with this picture?

  5. “DH, how big/small was it?”

it was tiny – around 400 sqft if i was estimating. deal breaker for me was the kitchen takes up one wall of the living area.

this building has bigger studios (nice sized with an alcove) – but they started at 2150 (so one of those on the 30th floor would be like 2,400 prolly)
