Here’s a pretty sweet Red Hook rental for a very reasonable rent. This three-bedroom, two-bathroom place is 2,200 square feet over two floors. It is also boasting a gut renovation, working fireplaces, and an extra 625 square feet of private terrace. Awesome! The rent of $3,800 a month isn’t bad either. And did we mention that you’ll be living on top of Red Hook bakery Baked? Risky business for anyone with a sweet tooth.

  1. blah, blah, blah. Rats are every where, but why have rats and live in Red Hook (a half day walk from the train) when you can have rats in Park Slope (no more than a 10 min walk no matter where you live).

  2. You’re kidding right, re the no rats comment? I’ve seen other threads on this site over the years commenting about the rat problem in that part of the Slope so I know I’m not the only one whose seen them. And the building I always saw them around was an otherwise beautiful limestone row house.

  3. I think for most people, nearly $4000 in RH is crazy talk. Any renter with that kinda of $$$ would hightail it to the Fairway where you get much better amenities including gated parking. However, a place like this holds much appeal to the annoying courtsians of Fort Caucasian. Blech!!

  4. Looks like they furnished the place almost entirely with stuff bought from a local business (that is, IKEA)

$3,800/mo is a lot for Red Hook. Just because a couple works from home and wants to liveg in Red Hook doesn’t mean they would choose to pay above-market rent.

  5. I live next to that block. It’s not rat infested. I saw more rats when I lived in Park Slope. For 11 1/2 years I walked down 8th avenue on my way to the subway and there was a building near the corner of Union that always had rats hanging out on top and around the garbage cans. So i wouldn’t assume the presence (or lack) of vermin based on mere assumption and whatever your neighborhood prejudices might be.
As to whether the rent is fair, what would a 2200 sq foot, 3 bedroom, 2 bath, apartment with working fireplaces and private outdoor space go for in another neighborhood. A huge amount more, I’m sure. It’s all relative.

  6. I love Red Hook, I also LOVE Baked
But I agree with Rob – your place will be the apartment all the critters will flock to when chased out of Baked

Also $3800 for a 3 BR in RH – HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

    Lemme say that again:
    HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
