Here’s a pretty sweet Red Hook rental for a very reasonable rent. This three-bedroom, two-bathroom place is 2,200 square feet over two floors. It is also boasting a gut renovation, working fireplaces, and an extra 625 square feet of private terrace. Awesome! The rent of $3,800 a month isn’t bad either. And did we mention that you’ll be living on top of Red Hook bakery Baked? Risky business for anyone with a sweet tooth.

  1. I go to Baked far too often.

The peanut butter choco krispy bars, grasshopper bars, brookies…

    oy.

Pretty soon I’ll have to buy a Hoveround electric wheelchair and slow down the B61 bus even more.

Oh yeah, $3800 is way too much.

And $3K is too much for a store on that block.

Landlords need to wake the hell up or they’ll continue to get a big fat zero on the first of every month.

    Ask too much… get nuthin.

P.S.- making the font larger on your For Rent signs doesn’t make an overpriced rental magically appealing.

  2. I agree that I would be concerned about mice if I lived over a bakery or restaurant. And that is no reflection on the cleanliness of the business; just the way it is in any neighborhood. On the other hand, many people in Red Hook have cars and someone who can afford this probably fits into that category. Also, I know plenty of couples who both work at home; of course, about 80% of my friends are freelancers of some sort–at least a couple like that would be able to write off some of the rent/utlities as a biz expense. Rent too high? Well, it IS huge, but probably worth more like $3000. Good point about the Fairway building and its amenities.

  3. It’s a ridiculous price; while it’s a nice space what makes Red Hook a worthwhile place to live is that it is possible to get a decent size apartment for a decent price BECAUSE of all of the disadvantages of the neighborhood. I spent 6 years in the Hook and love it but it is remote, has awful transportation, has dark deserted streets with dangerous possibilities lurking. Any landlord asking the rent asked for here is just hoping to get a sucker who has not done their homework. If you pay that rent you are either dumb or rich or both.

  4. All the prices on the rentals featured here seem crazy to me, and evidently to other people, but I’ll go out on a limb and suggest that LL’s are not stupid and offer units at a price they feel they can get. So, is this what an apartment goes for in RH? Any comps?

  5. yeah I mentioned the influx of “critters” coming into the apartment b/c you live on top of a bakery not b/c it’s Red Hook! – I have seen rats in Park slope too!
however I do stand by my comment of a $3800 rent for a 3BR in Red Hook is crazytown
Sorry but Van Brunt is SUPER far from smith and 9th street stop and you would really only have the bus as an option to get to the train unless you take the watertaxi to work – but wasn’t that cancelled, so we are back to the only option – The Bus!
