This is listed as a two-bedroom with a nursery and office, and there are three whole bathrooms. For a family looking for a place to settle in between homes this feels like a nice option. But it must not be seeing a lot of interest, as the price dropped $500 two weeks ago to, gulp, $8,500 a month. What do ya think?

DUMBO is trendy and cool, that’s the driver. Compare this apartment with the 3-bedroom unit we saw yesterday in Park Slope. The one with the long hall. The Park Slope apartment had windows in every one of its many room, like a normal human habitation, furthermore the dining room was next to the kitchen. To me the Park Slope apartment is much nicer.
Snaps, I second your befuddlement over the whole Master- bedroom-with-sitting-room thing while sacrificing living room space. Bizarre. Who actually hangs out in their bedroom? Other than in BED that is? I guess with kids rooms, the bigger the better, but no one ever thinks that way.
Anyway, I’m on the opposite side of opinion here. I like this space and, while I too think the living room should have been larger, I think it’s thoughtful and pretty (definitely higher end than West Elm btw), and I like DUMBO well enough.
And Sutton Place sucks ass for anyone working and doing things anywhere other than on the UES, which also sucks ass.
Snappy, I think the layout is pretty good. I really dislike when windows are split. They made the most of that particular space.
On second look, maybe that was the best layout? With windows only on one side of the apartment, I suppose that limits where you can place legal bedrooms. Still depressing though.

he was a misunderstood pachyderm. what’s there not to understand!?

They combined two apartments and *that’s* the layout they came up with??? Why would you not increase the actual living space? I’ll never understand the whole movement towards gigantic bedrooms and tiny living rooms. How much space does one need to sleep and %$@! Wait. Don’t answer that.
Lots of media and ad people in Dumbo, so there must be some reliable coke dealers.
Almost sad seeing this. And the decor reminds me that you’re so limited in stores and transportation that you resort to sourcing everything from West Elm across the street.
