This is listed as a two-bedroom with a nursery and office, and there are three whole bathrooms. For a family looking for a place to settle in between homes this feels like a nice option. But it must not be seeing a lot of interest, as the price dropped $500 two weeks ago to, gulp, $8,500 a month. What do ya think?

“DUMBO is trendy and cool, that’s the driver.”
Really?
Ah, one-one. My retraction on speaking out of my ass.
Though I have never claimed to be good at the math! 😉
Is a 1.4 million dollar apartment WITH maintenance only 6,400 per month?
This New York nuttiness of having rooms with no windows or excavating cellars for underground dungeon rooms is really creepy. We are becoming troglodytes.
11217, you can read in bed. Couches are for living rooms 🙂 When it comes time for having 5-6 friends over and you can’t fit them in your Barbie Dream House sized living room, do you invite them to hang out in the bedroom? Odd, no?
Admittedly this rant of mine is a product of my current living space…huge bedroom, living room so small that if I gain any more weight I won’t be able to get in there. Just seems quite backwards to me. Bedrooms are for sleeping and sex. Both of which can be done quite comfortably on a queen sized bed and without all that extra floor space.
I’m not sure how you can compare these two, Minard. The PS apartment was nearly 1,000 sq.ft smaller and located in a totally different neighborhood, completely different feel, with a much longer commute to work for anyone downtown or working in midtown. With DUMBO, one of the upside’s, I always figured, is that you could fairly quickly get into downtown Manhattan, as opposed to taking the F through many stops and possible transfers. And isn’t there a water taxi?
Also, it seems to me after looking at the floorplans, that the dining spaces are equidistant from their respective kitchens.
If someone loves the river, the riverfront, that gorgeous park at the Brooklyn Bridge, and the feel of that neighborhood, this would be a great option if one needed to rent for a time and has 2 or 3 kids. And given the price tag and maintenance of the other, they seem to be about equal in cost.
Or set up a minibar, a vanity and a camera, and start your own show on YouTube. The sky’s the limit, people!
Why does a bedroom have to be for sleeping only? If it’s large enough, you can put a small couch, a couple chairs, a lamp for reading, a desk.
A room is a room.
Who cares if it’s a “bedroom” or not. You can use it any time of day if it’s large and bright.
Minard,
Not to mention the fact that with mortgage and maintenance, the Park Slope apartment from yesterday is $6400 a month TO OWN, and this place is $8500 a month, to RENT.
Yeah, I can see now that they likely did the best they could with the space they had and the location of the windows. Only one exposure stinks, but it’s what they had. I’d still like to see more living space, but here that may not be possible.
