This is listed as a two-bedroom with a nursery and office, and there are three whole bathrooms. For a family looking for a place to settle in between homes this feels like a nice option. But it must not be seeing a lot of interest, as the price dropped $500 two weeks ago to, gulp, $8,500 a month. What do ya think?

I love DUMBO, DH. Love it.
Some of the best views in the city, great loft apartments, Galapagos, St. Anne’s, Jacques Torres hot chocolate, love the rumbling of the trains overheard, the cobblestone streets, the coffee shop on Front Street, the bookshop.
I’m totally into it.
Enough Minard. Put down your fencing paraphernalia.
Yes, “ONLY 6,400 per month”. We’re talking about apartments over a million bucks (and UP with the DUMBO apt), big buildings, with doormen, in primo neighborhoods, and lot’s of space.
Given that in many Manhattan neighborhoods, maintenance alone is running north of $4,000 per month for many 3 bedroom pads, I was not out of order. Or didn’t think so.
Whatever. You’ve got your issues with me, and that’s fine, but don’t pretend that many, MANY people in Manhattan and Brooklyn with families, don’t spend 6,400 a month on their homes. And MUCH more.
“In fact, if I didn’t live in Park Slope the neighborhood/s I’d most be interested in living in are Dumbo, Boreum Hill or Prospect Heights. ”
really? i find it hard to believe you’d consider dumbo – it doesn’t have ANY of the things you like!!
Snaps, I get you. I’m really just playing devil’s advocate, but I think people talk as though they have people over every night in NYC, and it just isn’t true. How many times have you had 5-6 people in your apartment? Ok, maybe don’t answer that….
🙂
Noki…the Park Slope apartment is “only” 1.150 million….not 1.4.
Yes, $6400 a month.
While I agree that Park Slope and Dumbo are very different, I know quite a few people searching for apartments who are looking in both neighborhoods.
In fact, if I didn’t live in Park Slope the neighborhood/s I’d most be interested in living in are Dumbo, Boreum Hill or Prospect Heights.
$4,250/mo to be a roommate. LMAO!
“For a family looking for a place to settle in between homes this feels like a nice option.”
Same type of family that thinks renting is throwing money away. So I don’t know how $8,500/mo works.
***Bid half off peak comps***
Ha! Snaps. So true.
The thing is, a lot of people THINK it’d be great and luxurious to have a fainting couch and tons of space in their boudoir, but the truth is far less fantastical. No one ends up actually sitting there, much less ‘hanging out’ in their bedroom sitting area. Especially once kids come into the picture and so on. It’s just wasted real estate space — though probably good for resale because again, many people THINK it’ll be useful and wonderful. My .02.
ONLY $6,400 a month?
