Well, ok, 2:20 then why haven’t whoever you are mysteriously referring to stepped up to the plate?
I saw the Bergen Street place at their first open house last weekend. There were almost no original details left and almost everything has to be redone. No work seems to have been done in the 50+ years the current owners have been in there, while every cosmetic decision begs to be redone — linoleum floors, wall-to-wall carpeting, ugly dropped ceilings, ancient wiring, fake brick fireplace, 2/3 cemented backyard, etc.
President street is a 2 family and can be used as a 1 family. It’s a lot of space for 1 family though. over 5000 square feet plus a pretty large basement.
It amazes me how oblivious some of you are to the fact that people with families looking for more space are not the only prospective buyers interested in purchasing brownstones.
To echo Anon 12:47, Greene is beautiful. I’m amazed that there is so much detail in a multi-family.
Bergen street is 1 short block from the wykoff gardens projects.
It is also pretty far from the subway, and in a bit of a wasteland for restaurants.
It is quite close to the industrial desserted area near the gowanus, and you can probably smell it.
Rents are low, area isn’t safe, so this price is pretty high–the one on Dean that is much much nicer has been stuck for a while.
Plus, the building just isn’t that nice.
There was a place nearby selling for 1.2, and you could probably get that one for much less.
Jones & company seem to be oblivious to the fact that families looking for more space are not the only prospective buyers interested in purchasing a brownstone.
Eskimo??
i saw the pres street house in the spring (yes, its been for sale for that long)…. house would have been very nice except the conversion into a 2 fam was a disaster – the kitchen on top floor sucks – the whole top floor sucks and the fake / new staircase on the parlor floor is retarded. they should have kept it simple and a 1 fam.
pres street does look nice, anyone seen it. although for that kind of money i’d prefer a 1 family.
