I lived on Union St in Park Slope for 3 years. this price is crazy. It is not PS 321, the house is narrow and in 2002 the average price for a brownstone on this block was 700,000. This person is “cashing in”. crazy crazy crazy.
Good people live an all neighborhoods. 🙂
I think BS, BR, FG PS CH, BH, CG etc have good qualities.
I think what it boils down to community.
Many people create boundaries for themselves or are aware of other peoples boundaries.
Flatbush Ave, Atlantic Ave, Broadway, Eastern Pkwy, 4th Ave, Belt Parkway.
Do we really believe all these houses exist in little bubbles.
Again I say that PS, FG, CH were not always what they are now. I don’t know Bed Stuy’s future – but it’s my home – so please be gentle. I’m sure Bay Ridge is not perfect either.
There are many areas in Brooklyn with great architecture where you can get a house starting at 500,000: Coastal Brooklyn: south of Browstone Brooklyn/Downtown Brooklyn
What do these neighborhoods have to offer in terms of amenities? parks, waterfront, good schools, restaurants, low crime, no abondoned buildings/vacant lots, safe and well maintained landscaped environments.
with all this talk about bed stuy, i still haven’t seen what is the love affair(and none with bay ridge). do you like your wife getting off the A train at night there? my friend just moved there and in 1 night had his car broken in to. while the architecture may be nice that may be one of the only things going for it (please not diversity again). meanwhile bay ridge is overlooked again. this week on ny times real estate there are a bunch of limestones for sale and aguayo has an open house at 139? senator(not my favorite area of br) for what looks like a nice townhouse(alright no exterior photo). it does have parking and you don’t even have to send your kid to private school. 438 78th street is a good location for commuting and has decent ameneties. me,i live close to shore road in a semi-attached colonial. pain in the ass to get to the city (40-50 minutes by bus to union square, 15 minutes by car to east village). not the most exciting place but clean, safe with good schools and playgrounds. this is my one man crusade to drive the price of bay ridge homes up. but seriously, if your not moving to bed stuy for the architecture you should at least check bay ridge out.
Stuyvesant Heights is very much a part of Bed-Stuy. its funny (although not so much) how people are quick to highlight the negative characteristics about Bed-Stuy and downplay the positive characteristics yet when someone brings up Stuyvesant Heights, its ‘oh that’s only a small part of bed-stuy’, ‘is that even in bed-stuy’, ‘its only on the small edge’. the point is its a part of the community, my community and if truth be told most of the things considered negative are also small parts of bed-stuy but that’s obviously not what matters. its obnoxious to think that people necessarily flock to bed-stuy because they can’t afford the better alternative or people only stay in bed-stuy because they have no other choice. I tend to agree with Clintonhillbilly about some of the characterisitcs of PS but as soon as that’s put on the table ‘oh lets not get so mean’ however the vast majority of people on this blog who live in fg, ch, ps and other neighborhoods suddenly feel they’re superior to others. As anon 5:00 pointed out he sold his condo to people like some of the people on this blog who feel they can do better in other neighborhoods that offer more ‘amenities’ in fg and pay a pretty penny for it allowing SMART investors to take your money and move somewhere where they can get more for their money (i.e. a brownstone in a beautiful QUIET neighborhood, like stuyvesant heights) and that’s their choice just as its your choice to pay outrageous prices to stay somewhere because you can walk to a coffee shop and get your 8 dollar frapuccino while you read Da Vinci Code and we’re in stuyvesant heights laughing at you but like I said that’s your choice, respect ours and we’ll respect yours!
Thanks for the heads-up on 128 Clinton. What an incredible place! Think we’ll have to stop by to check this one out for ourselves.
“Oh, please – we all now that as hoods change areas within the hood are carved out and given a better sounding name to go along with the new reputation.”
Stuyvesant Heights received its historical designation in the early 1970s.
