  1. >> I’m very disappointed in what he’s chosen as his initial priorities

Cgar, I agree with you. I am disappointed in his choice of Tim Geithner and Larry Summers as Tsy Secretary and economic advisor respectively. These two are in the pocket of wall street and need to resign yesterday.

It is clear that those who are benefiting from his policies are the wall street types; guess who bought that $3.3mil place in brooklyn heights for his wife????

  2. > a live feed to al quaeda sympathizers around the world

Do you really think an actual trial will do more to recruit Al Quaeda than our current reprehensible behavior of indefinite detention without trial?

  3. Wow, I’m a Democrat, and usually I avoid these discussions like the plague, but I have to say I agree with most of what Legion said about Obama in his 1:36, 1:53 and 2:13 posts, as well as stevieb’s 1:53 post on health care. I didn’t expect Obama to solve all our problems in only 10 months, but I have to say I’m very disappointed in what he’s chosen as his initial priorities and the manner in which he approaches things (or doesn’t as often seems to be the case). I’m also not thrilled with either Chuck or Kirsten.

  4. minard,
true, this business with the trials in NYC has the potential to be a major sanfu. some say it is this administration’s way of putting the previous administration on trial for Guantanamo. But it may be putting the US on trial in a time of economic uncertainty and at a cost of many many millions to this city.
now we hear that these vermin will be representing themselves. great. a live feed to al quaeda sympathizers around the world from the center of a three ring circus.
who remembers the long island train shooter who represented himself, embarassed our entire justice system and propelled a victim’s mother to the house of representatives?

  5. wasder,
I hear you, I have a tough time defending Bush after those last three months and his total lack of initiative on the border issue and not stepping up immediately after Katrina, (what a transformative image that would have been for the president to be on the ground pulling folks out of the flood). He was often non-defensive to a fault and many of his decisions are still puzzling in hindsight.
President Obama is still fuzzy in my eyes, I still don’t know who he really is, that is scary. There was never a doubt with Bush, although I could see how that would be scary to some as well.

  6. We will know in the next six months whether the current administration is one of genius or bunglers.
Everything is up in the air right now. IN addition to everything else, the decision to bring the 9-11 terrorists to the civilian courts in Foley Square is so shocking and idiotic-seeming that I still can’t believe it.
    Time will tell.
