House of the Day: 226 11th Street
Here’s the first new house listing to hit the market this year: It’s a two-family clapboard at 226 11th Street in the South Slope. While not as grand as some of the houses to the north, the four-story property has plenty of detail and charm. The only hairy thing about it is that the first…

Here’s the first new house listing to hit the market this year: It’s a two-family clapboard at 226 11th Street in the South Slope. While not as grand as some of the houses to the north, the four-story property has plenty of detail and charm. The only hairy thing about it is that the first two floors are currently being used as a yoga studio and acupuncture office. The asking price is $1,279,000. Reactions?

“Plus the overhead trains rumbles right behind the house.”
Um, where? You mean the F train which goes underground right at the 4th Ave/9th Street stop?
There is the entire block of 10th Street which is a buffer to the train.
Never said it was a super fab block Minard, but calling it “just plain awful” ain’t right either. You really seem to be one of the only people on this thread saying it’s awful.
You’re just a snob. Many others here have said the same.
You may be a snob with some good knowledge of parts of Brooklyn and its history, but you are a snob nonetheless.
Funny that you are being judgmental of me for saying this was a nice house on a fine block but somehow you are not judgemental for saying the location sucks. There’s lots more to this location than a Lowe’s but somehow I don’t think you’d know that since you were also the one who calls Fort Green “fringe”
11217, I’m not ignorant, I have been around a long time, I just have slightly different standards than you. You think this is a super-fab block, I don’t.
I will give you that it is within walking distance of Lowe’s. But that doesn’t make me want to pay 1.2 million. The block is surrounded by other big box and industrial sites. Plus the overhead trains rumbles right behind the house.
You are too judgmental of other posters and not sufficiently judgmental of listings in or near your zip code.
Ok, Rob…well you just proved my point because my acupuncture is covered ALL of the time.

and here is the Yoga Place….
Interesting, no?
Sorry Rob, but 11217’s response to my question was probably more accurate than yours.
I love this house from what I can see. Too bright? IS there such a thing? It seems to me that window treatments can be utilized to minimize the brightness if some lucky troglodytes find themselves living in this one. God knows ‘brightness’ isn’t usually a problem most rowhouse owners complain about.
Rob, I don’t even do yoga and I find ‘yoga culture’ annoying, but to claim it isn’t exercise is foolish. It’s not cardiovascular exercise, but it IS beneficial in that it stretches out your muscles and helps you achieve balance (I’m talking about physical balance) and symmetry. I have so many aches and pains that yoga would be the perfect prescription. I’m just too lazy.

Hey guys, here is the link to the Acupuncture Business.
May not be such a bad investment to be the landlord judging by the owner’s picture. Maybe you can score a free “Treatment” or 2.
well i just googled (ugh twice in one day) can insurance cover breast implants, and the answer came up as
Generally, no. Cosmetic surgery is not usually covered under most insurance plans.
GENERALLY, NO. generally. but some can and do. some even cover Botox parties.
