$1,650,000 isn’t a very high price for a four-story house in Fort Greene, so we’re not particularly optimistic about what this four-family at 179 Adelphi Street must look like on the inside. (The lack of photos ain’t helping either.) The listing does cite the existence of original details though, so maybe it’s not so bad. Has anyone been inside?

  1. townhouses in center city philly should only be compared to the likes of the west village in nyc. the fort green of philly is more like mt airy, where historic townhouses do go for about $250-300k. when comparing relative neighborhoods to philly, costs are about a third of nyc’s prices. but, then you’re comparing apples to oranges.

  2. Another funny thing…I went to that open house this evening on Putnam ave that was the HOTD on Monday. No one else came. I signed in as Dave Morgan (i think it was Morgan) and said I heard about it on brownstoner. Was hoping I would meet some other posters there but, alas, no one showed!! As I was leaving the broker asked me if I was going to report back on brownstoner and I said “i don’t know, maybe.”

And then as I left I heard the two of them shout “daveinbedstuy…busted” It was actually pretty pathetic sounding.

But you know, I came away from that house not liking it at all but felt I couldn’t actually say anything bad about it because I had actual;ly met those two people in person (redundant, but you know what I mean).

  3. Yes…finally someone realizes that its just a joke…the whole blog is just a exercise in mental masturbation where people can throw out whatever they want to see what response it gets, including Mr. B.

That said, the Forum is useful to a lot of people. However that too gets its share of idiotic and , occasionally, fake posts.

reading & posting on this is a form of “drug of choice” or diversion of choice from the monotony of the day. Downtime better spent playing solitaire on the computer? NEVER!!!

  4. So you basically just proved that it doesn’t matter at all whether ones signs in or not.

    So idiotic.

Due to the lack of 1000’s of Biff posts a day, I’m thinking “he’s” either that idiot Nokilissa or that even bigger moron, Bxgrl. Who knows…

You just showed us all what a TOTAL JOKE these comments are.

    Everyone go buy a house.

    Or don’t.

Not a soul on here knows what the eff they are talking about.

  5. 9:54…”The housing market in Brooklyn, like the oil market, is being artificially driven up by speculators and their agents.”

And you people think I’m crazy!!!! LOL

Sorry, no movies to watch and the Asian markets are behaving predictably boring tonight

  6. Yes, 9:52…knew it would get mixed up at some point. I only had 5 screens at work and couldn’t keep signed in at 2 of them.

However, taking the high road, I never argued back and forth with both of them on the same subject…just didn’t notice i was signed in up above.

it happens to the best of us.

Now lets find out who the other double posters are.

We have to clear up The What bullshit and those fake whats!!!

  7. I’m not sure that adelphi street is on my hit parade of million-dollar streets.
There is nothing there to justify the price except a lot of hostile public housing residents. The housing market in Brooklyn, like the oil market, is being artificially driven up by speculators and their agents.
I truly believe that the best option now is to rent. The real estate business in NYC right now is just rotten to the core. You would be foolish to buy here now. Only foreigners are buying and they will lose their shirts as they did in the last cycle, but this cycle is different in that it is more intense, more vicious, more delusional.
