$1,650,000 isn’t a very high price for a four-story house in Fort Greene, so we’re not particularly optimistic about what this four-family at 179 Adelphi Street must look like on the inside. (The lack of photos ain’t helping either.) The listing does cite the existence of original details though, so maybe it’s not so bad. Has anyone been inside?

  1. yeah 10:33…those guests are all full of knowledge, righteousness, good hearts truth and the American way.

Its a blog for Christ sake…where everyone is anonymous. Whether someone is signed in or not is only fodder to spice up the conversations.

You do however know that I am actually living in Bed Stuy by my posts. No one knows anything about what you represent, where you come from, blah, blah, blah and probably no one cares.

I don’t have to create any new identities. You need to create at least one

  2. people aren’t relocating to philly right now because they are losing jobs hand over fist. oh, and it’s a dump.

no one cares what you have to say anymore, dave.

you need to start a new persona. daveinbedstuy is over.

  3. Yeah 10:28…all those comments today on Marauding teens were worth a lot…maybe in posts and page views to Mr. B but if you get advice on real estate from a blog (other than the helpful stuff on the Forum) than you got your head up your ass

  4. Now you’re trying to backpeddal and it’s not becoming…

You did this to yourself Dave. You will now have to create new identies and everyone will be skeptical of EVERY new bold “registered” poster.

I now know to ignore every registered “bold” poster and read only the “faded” type posters.

At least they aren’t criticizing people for not signing in, when you (and others) have multiple signed in names.

  5. right 10:23….Philly is large and that area going north on Broad is pretty bad for a very long stretch…and then you get up there to Mt Airy and Chestnut Hill.

All in all, I’d say 1/3 is about correct…There are a few places in center city that will go for $5-8 MM but VERY few. A friend owns one on 3rd St. He bought it about 6 years ago for $800k and put about that much in it and I’d say he could sell it for $6-7MM…that’s the kind of appreciation you only get from a depressed market…which Philly was up until very recently

The big push on center city condos caters directly to the NYC crowd that wants to relocate there. It’s that market that is comparable to the Brooklyn vs. Manhattan back and forth

  6. daveinbedstuy just brought down this website.

thanks dave. thanks for ruining this great website for the rest of us with your childish games.

now no comment ever made will have any sense of “worth” at all. if there’s no worth to any comment (or the illusion of worth) i’m not really even sure what the point of much commenting will be.

  7. Its also a very small world out there as we all have experienced. I was in San francisco a few months ago and stopped at a guys shop from whom I have been buying Mexican antiques, usually through his website.

We got to talking and he asked me about when I recently moved to Brooklyn and then told me he had this good friend that started a website a few years ago based in Brooklyn called brownstoner.

I’m actually a pretty down-to-earth easy going guy, especially given my profession. i think the rants on here are so easy to let get out of hand because of the anonymity. That said, NO, brownstoner is not over. We should all go on the way we were..its been very entertaining and what a slice of life.

Although, I still think some of the racist baiting goes way too far.
