This new FSBO listing in the Brownstoner Marketplace isn’t huge (650 square feet) but it has a lot of charm; located at 62 Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights, it’s also got a great location. The bedroom looks on the small side but the kitchen and living area is very light and has lots of original detail. There’s also a common roof deck with killer views. Price: $549,000. Worth it?

  1. I don’t know that much about the people who live in Brooklyn Heights, which is just fine with me, but the navel gazing Park Slope is the center of the universe attitude that comes from the 11215 zipcode makes me never, ever want to live there. It’s a nice neighborhood. The park is awesome. There are some nice bars on 5th Avenue. The restaurants are almost all overrated (with a few exceptions), but yuppies wouldn’t know it, and, obviously there are plenty of great people that live there, but any neighborhood that thinks its internal affairs about whether strollers should be allowed in bars or if it is ok to assume a pink glove belongs to a girl is just not a place I want to live or more importantly raise my child. Honestly, if I had the kind of money I would need to live in either of those two neighborhoods, I’d probably go for Brooklyn Heights and just deal with having no park nearby. On the other hand, all things being equal, you can live near Prospect Park and not live in Park Slope, which I personally believe is the better way to go.

You have zero class, and I find you disgusting. Please (as I’ve asked before) do not interact with me on this blog.

While I think I know who you intended that for, you really should be more specific. At least eight posters are thinking (hoping) this was for them.

  3. > Ditmas – the y in yuppy stands for young.

OK, so call the BH variant “suppies” instead (with an “s” for “superannuated”).

  4. BK Heights is turning over to wealthy young couples and has been for a long time. I even hear of young media types moving from DUMBO to the Heights.

  5. I looked on Sunday at a beautiful, huge 2 bedroom at 57 Montague, across the street from this place. Spectacular S, W and E views.

Here’s the link, and, no, I’m NOT saying it’s comparable to COTD, just a beautiful apartment in BH, with views that you just don’t get in Park Slope:

  6. “PS real estate is cheaper mostly because the neighborhood is about 10 times the size of BH, ditto.”

Actually, as much as I’d like to move in with Arkady, the large size of Park Slope is what I don’t like about it.

I’ve never been a size queen. Oops, wrong thread for Raunch Hour! Speaking of, hey Minard! 😉
