Yes, I’m sure the people in BH are much less annoying, uptight and yuppie-ish.

Lech – where did you move to?
“I guess we have different friends. I know no one who singles out one tiny Brownstone neighborhood and says THAT is the only place I’m looking.”
Well, 11217, if you’d accept one of our invites to come to a gathering, you and DH would have friends in common, and then you would know someone who is singling out one (or two) neighborhoods in which to buy. 🙂
I moved out of Park Slope 2 months ago. I’m kicking myself for not having done the move years ago.

Did it ever occur to the 11215’ers here that people might pay a premium to live in Brooklyn Heights just so they don’t have to live with all the annoying, uptight yuppies in Park Slope? I mean, beautiful neighborhood, obviously Prospect Park is great, but the people can be a bit much.
I NEVER had an interest in Park Slope, ever.
One of the wonderful things about Brooklyn Heights is the transportation. Particularly for those working downtown. I used to live on Hicks St. near Clark and within a short walking distance, I had the 2/3, 4/5, A/C. I used to work at Chase and I walked out of my house, 2 minutes to the 2/3 and 3 minutes to Wall Street. Sometimes I would get fed up at work, and just go home for lunch. I live in Fort Greene now and commute to midtown and it is just ugly. C to 4/5 at Fulton. It ain’t pretty. When weather is decent, I hoof it to Atlantic ave to avoid the C.
Also, I used to go to Lincoln Center and take the 2/3 home to Clark Street when I lived in BH. I could get home at 1am and no problem. No way would I be taking the C home to Clinton/Washington then. I have my own building now, but I really do miss Brooklyn Heights.
“Very few people, DH.
Most people who are looking to make a move don’t single out one neighborhood, they have a list of neighborhoods to choose from. I’d say many who look at BH, also look in Park Slope and Carroll Gardens too”
I guess I am one of those few people. I am only looking in Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill. Not even looking in Carroll Gardens, even though I had a house there for 10 years.
And, 11217, I have to confess that Park Slope is one neighborhood in which I’ve never been interested in looking.
