This one-bedroom co-op at 115 Eastern Parkway in Prospect Heights has been the lucky recipient of a rather spiffy makeover recently. The asking price of $450,000 might be higher than usual for this building, but clearly this renovation deserves some kind of premium. You can check out the modern stylings at Sunday’s open house. What’s your take on it based on the photos?

  1. haha 12345 – gotcha

so it sounds like you need more rooms in your place – not a bigger one bedroom with the same amount of rooms.

how does this place not make sense for a single person who doesn’t have the cash or patience to do a gut reno?

  2. Maly, I’ve been asking myself for a while now exactly what about this apartment made me gag and, besides the size, I couldn’t really figure out why. You’ve hit the nail on the head. The built-in is a huge mistake that must be undone, IMO. I hate the kitchen too. Damn. I just hate the whole thing. I love super modern stuff/spaces, but this is just plain ole wrong.

  3. The layout is not that bad. The built-in banquette is a mistake though; in a room 12×25, to take 2 feet off the width is not helping. The overall look says: “I’m an architect, hear me roar!”
There is no possibility to change the placement of anything inside the apartment.

  4. Dirty hipster, as soon as I posted that I realized that it was unclear. Two enemies could also live there, though the icy silence between them may eat up some of the square footage.

Joking aside, my partner and I have a dog and are planning to start a family in the next year or so. We couldn’t picture have 4 living things in that space– the flow and size would feel far too small.

  5. “Is this a real apartment? It looks like leftover space. or a converted janitors closet. The layout is appalling, even by NYC standards.”

Yeah Minard, not nearly enough seating for a Capote reading. /sarcasm
