Condo of the Day: 535 Dean Street, #616
Can you say ‘bachelor pad’? This loft at the Newswalk Building in Prospect Heights looks like it was designed for a party. It’s more than 1,100 square feet and designed with an open plan; the high-ceilings don’t hurt either. The combined monthly charge of $892 is quite reasonable, as is the asking price of $599,000,…

It’s more than 1,100 square feet and designed with an open plan; the high-ceilings don’t hurt either. The combined monthly charge of $892 is quite reasonable, as is the asking price of $599,000, we think. Of course, there is one small downside: We hear that some small-time developer may be doing some work across the street for the next 15 or 20 years.

never in my life have i ever had a guest that asked if they could hang up their coat in my closet. and i dont think ive ever asked anyone if i could hang up my coat in their closet. that’s so so strange sounding to me.

Loft – windows= office space. This is just a large rectangle, good for one person, not some rambling 20 windows loft that you can “build out.” The ceiling height is only 12.5 ft, so no lofted area either.
I really dislike the dark stain on the maple floors. Maple doesn’t stain very well, so it looks sloppy, and now the flooring clashes with kitchen cabinets.
And at some point, said guest will want to put their coat/stuff in a closet, but then oops, no space, and they get sick of hearing the work at AY, and they dump you. Then you’re alone, sulking in your big pricey studio on a beanbag playing PlayStation.

Do people have friends that shallow???
“You could not pay me to live next to 10+ years of construction. ”
how much? 😉
Hmm, here’s my thoughts…
You could not pay me to live next to 10+ years of construction.
“that doesnt sound like a bad life, at ALL!”
It is if you have cojones azules.
“This is a glorified studio. You can install a wall and a door to the bedroom but then it has no windows. You also need to build closets.”
Isn’t that the whole point of a loft? Big empty space and you build it however you want. if you want a bedroom on the wall of windows, build it there. just because a floor plan says “bedroom” doesn’t mean you are forced to sleep there.
