marble mantel reinstallation/repair

FYI on the year, don’t pay too much attention to city records. They are inaccurate. Sounds like you have an Italianate or Neo-Grec from mid to third part of 19th century, assuming the mantel is original.

Doing a renovation of an 1899 brownstone and are converting one marble fireplace into wood-burning. This meant we had to replace the joists below the mantel with steel comply with code. When the contractors were doing this work on the joists the marble fireplace started to sink so they removed the entire front of the fireplace. It’s beautiful and intricately carved marble. Now we need an expert to reinstall it (our contractors won’t do it). Looking for recommendations ASAP! Thanks very much!

We used Foro Marble to remove, clean and re-install our marble mantels during a major renovation and they did a great job.
