I used Palone Bros this spring and are happy with the system. They have done a ton of brownstones and will give you hundreds of references. I think they use luxaire (i.e. Johnson Controls) and it seems like that is their only option. However generally the design is far more important than the equipment. We went with a 5t package on the roof instead of a couple of units and air handler in the basement. I’m going to upgrade the thermostats at some point because they are rely basic and not very aesthetic, but all parts of the house are cooled evenly and we love it.

I have found Palone Brothers to be the worst! They do not properly supervise the installations, when there are issues, they will not take responsibility for them, blaming other contractors that were not even on the site etc. Will not fix there problems or maintain there own work, without huge bills that they are only to quick to send to a collection attorney rather than trying to work out the issues. DO NOT USE THEM! And as for their long list of references, they put my name on their list knowing damn well most people do not call when they see such an impressively long list. Well some people that knew me, did call me and when I gave them my reference I had the “Bad” brother calling me cursing me out. They play good guy (brother) / bad guy (brother). They finally took my name off their reference list, not that they had ever asked if I minded being on their list in the first place. And I was a relatively large customer at the time….five different systems in two different buildings. I have since changed out all of their crap systems at huge expense. Ill fitting, pore drainage, leaks, etc.
