Housepoor, i realize that. I used 20% because that is on line with what some contractors will mark certain things up.

I am not sure what a gc’s liability insurance costs. Aside from that. I am wondering if these contractors consider worker’s comp a payroll expense or an insurance expense. My mom worked for an re management/owner and i will ask her how they looked at that. There is no way out of some of this and the city does not care if hic’s like me have insurance but with gc’s they require it.

We didn’t install it in the cockloft, but we did use it between rooms, most importantly in the wall diving our bedroom from where our upstairs tenant enters the building. It’s been great so far. in fact, if you buy some, I would gladly give you a few bucks to take a small strip from you. I want to insulate around our heating pipes where they come out of the floor to keep bugs out. It would be ridiculous to buy a whole package when we only need a tiny amount. Let me know.

I’ve used roxul all over the place, i like their semi rigid panels best. But loose Roxul seems rather uncommon.

The easiest way is to make copies of all the historic C of O changes, and records of it being vacant. Permit applications as well as the permits, if they are in the file at DOB…..they often get lost, but collect as much as you can with the C of O’s and go to the local DHCR office; Brooklyn Office is on Hanson Pl and ask for their help. I have found them to be most helpful if you go in and see them. Most people just bark at them on the phone or send their lawyers and it does not so easily get the desired result.

Eddie’s Swap Shop offered stripping, but I don’t know if that was only if your purchased doors from him. Did Eddie relocate? There’s also the guy who runs the second-hand store on Tompkins between Hancock and Jefferson in Bed-Stuy. He did a little project for us. I can’t swear by him, but you can always ask.

As usual, fellow Brownstoners shed light on my inquiry. Since I have never been down the road of looking for a woodwork stripper, I was on the fence with the original DeGamba’s) quote. Will he charge you the same price per door if you only do one or two? If so, why don’t you just do one and if it is satisfactory give him the rest of the job.
