We received a number of emails last night from readers about a shooting that took place last night in Fort Greene; The Local also posted a late-night account of the incident. The emails we received put the shooting at around 8:15 on Fulton between South Elliott and South Portand; The Local gives a precise time of 8:23 p.m. and says that one victim was a black male of about 15 years in age and that the other victim was slightly older. One of the emails we received also noted that there were a lot of teenagers out on the street leading up to the shootings being “very rowdy.” Anyone know what was going on? Update: Here are some more details that a reader just sent in…Evidently the scuffle that lead to the shooting started at Atlantic Center about 7:45. The problem? Buffalo Wings is offering $.40 wings on Tuesdays, which has attracted kids from all over the city; in this case, the fact that the next day was a holiday only compounded the problem. According to the tipster, the commanding officer is working with mall security and management to end the promotion earlier. The tipster also said that the kids involved in the shooting were not from the neighborhood.
Update 12:52 pm: We just got the official report from Captain Tasso at the 88th. Turns out there were two separate shootings last night, the one discussed above in which two teens were shot but are in stable condition, and another (also non-life threatening) one at Flatbush and Fulton; there was also a stabbing in the vicinity of Atlantic Center. All three events are being linked to the buffalo wing promotion. There was a large police presence on hand that managed to send thousands of the teens home, obviously some managed to cause problems before leaving the area; none of individuals involved in any of the incidents were from the neighborhood.
Target has poorly stocked shelves (and misstocked shelves) because it is poorly run….just like virtually every other
large store that opens in Brooklyn (see Home Depot, supermarket, Ikea, etc…) it has nothing to do with shoplifting and has alot to do with lousy management (who think it doesnt matter) and poorly trained/ill equipped workers.
I love great buffalo wings. One of America’s best inventions.
“So if the cops want to catch the city’s illegal-gun-toting teenagers they just need to set a large trap loaded with free wings? ”
ROFL! I’m picturing a big net loaded with hot wings that scoops up the criminals as soon as they congregate on said net and start grubbin’!
The wings are really good. I am a proud owner of an “I survived the Blazing Wing Challenge” T-Shirt. Although i will say the wing quality has gone down as well as the heat level since they went public.
Yes, Ikea recently put in guards at the exits who check every receipt and actually match up what you’ve got to what’s in your bag. Wasn’t like that for the longest time. They must be having a problem now with theft.
I will just say its from one of the entities that developed the mall. I may be mistating the exactitude of what they do but there is no urgency to restock the shelves during store hours so that stocking can be better monitored when the store is empty so that cases dont walk themselves out. I am sure its not on all items but every retail outlet has a loss prevention group and there is a rediculous amount of employee theft there and also at the IKEA in Brooklyn by the way.
Suffice to say that many people agree with me the Wings at Buffalo Wild wings are great!!!
however I doubt “thousands” of people showed up for a wing special….tat may have started making the AT a handout spot, but you couldnt fit more than 250 people into that restaurant.
So if the cops want to catch the city’s illegal-gun-toting teenagers they just need to set a large trap loaded with free wings?
Like when they send criminals on the run a “you have just won a boat” ticket, “turn up here to claim your prize”
Target just doesn’t put out the full stock. Take the tag of the shelf and scan it in the price check thingie at the end of the aisle. It will tell you if any more of the item are in the stockroom upstairs. Most often it is. Take the tag to an employee (good luck finding one) and tell them to go get it for you and they will. Don’t be fooled by an empty shelf.
