The Voice’s Fork in the Road blog came up with a ranking of the 10 best Park Slope restaurants, bestowing top honors on Al Di La. Probably not a controversial choice, though some of the others may strike some as questionable: 2. Stone Park Cafe; 3. Convivium Osteria; 4. Taro Sushi; 5. Tacos Nuevo Mexico; 6. Chiles and Chocolate; 7. Cafe Steinhof; 8. ZuZu Ramen; 9. Applewood; and 10. Beer Table. There were also a lot of restaurants mentioned as runners up, including relatively new places like Bark Hot Dogs and Get Fresh. There were a couple omissions we noticed that we’d have bet on at least making the runners up list, including Moim and Alchemy. What say you about the ranking?

  1. Oh and Tacos Nuevo Mexico has taken a huge step down in my book since they moved to their fancy new digs. The decor is silly. The live music they had there both times I’ve been there since their move has been skull cracking loud (and not particularly good) — i.e., we gave up on shouting after 10 mins and ate in silence. Nice right?

The food seems to be the same, but they have made their prices nice and high to match Park Slope. Oh, and the waitress both times sucked. That may have been the case in their old digs as well, but i didn’t notice it because of the prices and more humble decor… and lack of music.

I used to go there a lot (both drunk and sober). It’s not on my list anymore. Simple as that.

  2. > I still haven’t been to Al Di La…

I’ve only been there once. It was pretty good, but in my opinion it did not live up to all the hype. I’d just assume go to Bar Tano or Bar Toto for a tasty Italian meal and spend considerably less. And actually get in the door.

  3. > Flipsters would be on my top 10 WORST restaurants

Agreed. Went there once. All three of us felt ill after eating there. Never again. I’ll get my burger at the Fifth Avenue diner in the Slope or The Farm in DP.

  4. While out of my jurisdiction – agree that Al Di La and Convivium are special.

Not to be negative – but Applewood? Both of my experiences there were pretty bad. Perhaps just outliers.
