The Voice’s Fork in the Road blog came up with a ranking of the 10 best Park Slope restaurants, bestowing top honors on Al Di La. Probably not a controversial choice, though some of the others may strike some as questionable: 2. Stone Park Cafe; 3. Convivium Osteria; 4. Taro Sushi; 5. Tacos Nuevo Mexico; 6. Chiles and Chocolate; 7. Cafe Steinhof; 8. ZuZu Ramen; 9. Applewood; and 10. Beer Table. There were also a lot of restaurants mentioned as runners up, including relatively new places like Bark Hot Dogs and Get Fresh. There were a couple omissions we noticed that we’d have bet on at least making the runners up list, including Moim and Alchemy. What say you about the ranking?

  1. Al Di La is always excellent. You may wait to get seated but food never takes too longonce you’ve ordered.
Caveat emptor: I used to love Watana Siam (a runner up) until I was served steamed dumplings topped with a belly-up baby roach. Barf.
    W(h)at-an-as(s)-I-am for ever eating there.

  2. @Butterfly – My bad! It’s on the SE corner of 2nd street. Song doesn’t have a big sign, just a bunch of blue lights on the outside.

@11217 – Thai is my fave, so thanks for the suggestions! Have always had really great food there that doesn’t break the bank so it’s a place I often get take-out from. But will def. try out Mee Thai and Mango.

  3. No way Blue Ribbon is not one of the top 10 restaurants in Park Slope. Probably the consistency and length of its period of excellence has gotten people to overlook it in these kinds of lists.

For what its worth I agree with 11217 that #7 is excellent. I also love General Greene and think that Fort Greene is getting to be a pretty great food neighborhood.

  4. As some others I have not been impressed at all by Al Di La, not surprised that they placed but am actually kind of suprised that was #1. On the other hand loved Applewood both times I’ve been, guess others have had more variable experiences. Stone Park Cafe I’ve been to a number of times and never had a bad meal. Would also throw in a mention for Moim, very solid place.

  5. Lesloaf,

I used to really like Miriam for brunch. Never liked their dinner though.

But now, there are so much better options in the Slope for brunch and usually Get Fresh Table and Market gets my business for a delicious, casual brunch spot. The food blows Miriam’s out of the water.

  6. I’ll admit that I only go out to dinner twice a year when we manage to get a babysitter, and I tend to agree with 11217’s assessments in general, but I continue to stand by Miriam. OK maybe not the top 10, but definitely worthy of an honorable mention. The food is innovative but comforting, and the atmosphere is lively without being loud.
