The Voice’s Fork in the Road blog came up with a ranking of the 10 best Park Slope restaurants, bestowing top honors on Al Di La. Probably not a controversial choice, though some of the others may strike some as questionable: 2. Stone Park Cafe; 3. Convivium Osteria; 4. Taro Sushi; 5. Tacos Nuevo Mexico; 6. Chiles and Chocolate; 7. Cafe Steinhof; 8. ZuZu Ramen; 9. Applewood; and 10. Beer Table. There were also a lot of restaurants mentioned as runners up, including relatively new places like Bark Hot Dogs and Get Fresh. There were a couple omissions we noticed that we’d have bet on at least making the runners up list, including Moim and Alchemy. What say you about the ranking?

  1. I went when it was Flipsters, fsrg. The place is TERRIBLE.

Really bad. That’s just my opinion, of course.

Like I said…there are 5 other places in Park Slope with better burgers than Flipsters.

I will not be going back to Flipsters. Twice was more than enough.

  2. I agree that Flipsters is a bit suspect. the burger place before it became flipsters had been shut TWICE by Board of Health!!!

If you went to Flipsters BEFORE it was Flipsters then you went to a different restaurant!!!!

I do not know when 11217 and others went to Flipsters but if it wasnt recently (since the changeover) then go back, I do not say good things about restaurants lightly – but Flipsters makes a great burger – (a little more on the ‘casual’ side than a bonnies burger but great nevertheless)

  3. I agree that Flipsters is a bit suspect. the burger place before it became flipsters had been shut TWICE by Board of Health!!!
    I LOVE applewood
I agree that Miriam is bland now. It used to be really good – but not so much

have YET to go to La La La

Was Blue Ribbon on the list? I love that place!

  4. After hearing all the good things about it, I went to Tacos Nuevo Mexico back in the fall, maybe October. I was extremely disappointed. The food was very bland and simply average Mexican. Not sure if this is a result of the move, as noted above, or what.

  5. I read this article last week and added my comment right to the posting of my top 10, which I wrote off the top my head and upon further discussion I realized I ranked some too high forgot some all together! Top 10 in the Slope is really hard, it is almost better to do Park Slope Top 10’s by price or kind of food.

I still maintain that Applewood is the best in Park Slope, hands down! I really like Al Di La, but I think it is over hyped and I have had “bad” meals there. I think consistence is the most important and restaurants like Cafe Steinhof and Bogota never miss, always make good food! I have eaten at Stone Park twice both times it was amazing so I would put them #2.

So now after thinking about this over the weekend:
    1- Applewood
    2- Stone Park Cafe
    3- Al Di La
    4- Cafe Steinof
    5- Bogota
    6- Palo Santo
    7- Ten
    8- Fonda
    9- Bonnies
    10- Press 195
