StreetLevel: Pizza and Maybe Banh Mi for 5th Ave
The two storefronts next to Willie’s Dawgs on 5th Avenue between 5th and 6th streets are about to be home to a couple new businesses. More exciting: A poster on Brooklynian says there’s word the storefront next to Prego’s will be a banh mi joint, and a store owner on the block told us he’d heard the same rumor. GMAP

Damn, that link made me hungry.
Very good Sengalese at Abistro on Carlton.
“Have you been to The Vanderbilt yet??”
Ugh no – i haven’t. Was planning on going to Roman’s and The Vandy last saturday but it was windyrainsnowing and decided to stay in. I assume it’s still awesome?
I would like to see a steakhouse in Park Slope.
The pizzeria should do well, given that this place is right across the street from an Intermediate School.
There used to be a Southern/Soul place down 7th Avenue where Little D is (was?). It started off good and then went way downhill before closing.
Snarky, we’ll dine soon!
so tell me, seriously, what is vietnamese food? im very curious.
also what exactly constitutes soul food? (does that just mean black southern food?)
*rob*
> You want Sengalese…go to Chase Bank…
Hmmm. Going to Fort Greene is probably easier.
Snappy, unfortunately the corner of President and 5th has given the Soul Food thing a shot to no avail. That Biscuit BBQ place was horrible.
I agree that a GOOD Southern place would succeed.
