StreetLevel: Pizza and Maybe Banh Mi for 5th Ave
The two storefronts next to Willie’s Dawgs on 5th Avenue between 5th and 6th streets are about to be home to a couple new businesses. According to a sign that’s gone up, one will be a new pizza place called Prego’s. Contractors working on the store say it’s supposed to open very soon. More exciting:…

More exciting: A poster on Brooklynian says there’s word the storefront next to Prego’s will be a banh mi joint, and a store owner on the block told us he’d heard the same rumor. GMAP
I’d much rather have an actual Vietnamese restaurant, with pho, bun and all of the other tasty stuff. I still miss Mekong, even if they were rather fusion-y. Excellent calamari.
They are in the South Slope which means it’s a pain to walk all the way there just for the sandwich.
What else do you all suggest?
These areas are already saturated with practically every kind of food one could want. What is Park Slope lacking (besides a Steakhouse) that you’d prefer to see here?
Cause I come up with a whole lotta nothing.
Ain’t nothing wrong with having Bahn Mi on 5th Avenue, which is a TOTALLY different animal then 7th Avenue…
Let’s get all up in arms when the 3rd Bahn Mi opens on 5th. For now, I think most people who live in Park Slope will welcome this.
Bahn Mi = yawn city.
Banh Mi is the new annoying food trend, as thai was before it – there will be no less than 80 banh mi places in brooklyn by the end of 2010.
Ah yes, the other two are on 7th Ave. Never mind…
I’ve heard the same with regard to the Bahn Mi, and I’m thrilled about it.
I’ll be stopping here on my way home from the gym.
7th Avenue in South Slope has 2 Bahn Mi places already (practically across the street from one another), so it’ll be great to have one on 5th as well.

Prego’s
LOL
*rob*
Wont that make Banh Mi joint #3 on Fifth Avenue?
Hello people, think of something different!
